四大陸ショートプログラムでのコメント

ひとまず、まとめておきます。

四大陸SP終了後のコメント：


This performance is a definite step up from U.S. Nationals, and I am just trying to gain momentum as I look forward to the World Championships in my hometown.

今日の演技は全米からの確実な進歩です。僕は、単純に弾みをつけようとしているんです。ホームタウンで行われる世界選手権をとても楽しみにしてますから。

While waiting in the final warm-up group to get on the ice, Patrick was finishing. Seeing Patrick's score come up, and knowing that he had done one of the best short programs ever, was inspiring.

最終グループのウォームアップで氷の感触を得るのを待っている間、パトリックはすでに演技を終えていました。パトリックのスコアが出るのを見て、彼のショートプログラムが今までの彼のベストの演技の１つだったと知って、とても奮い立たせられました。

For all the athletes here, there is an added sense of excitement knowing that the Olympics are going to be here and, as of February 12, just one year away.

ここにいる全てのアスリートにとっては、ほんの一年後、２月１２日にここでオリンピックが開催されることで加わる高揚感があります。


I had to do some soul searching. I wasn't sure I was going to be ready to come to this event. Emotionally, for me, it was kind of a down moment in my career. ... I thought maybe I needed some time to work through it, but I think the most important thing I could have done is take that first step -- maybe it's not a huge step, but standing up and dusting myself off and getting back out there.
It was actually my coach who said, 'This is something you have to do.'　
But that's in the past, and I'm really honored to be a part of this event. It's been beautiful so far.　　

僕は何度か反省しなくてはいけませんでした。僕はこのイベントに出場する準備ができていると確信していなかったのです。僕にとって、そのときはスケート人生の中で気持ち的に沈んでいた頃でした。僕は、その経験を通して（練習に）取り組む時間が自分にとって必要だけれど、僕ができることで一番重要なのは、最初の階段を上がることだと考えました。それは大きな一歩ではないけれど、自分を立ち上がらせ、埃を払い、そこから抜け出すための第一歩なのです。
実際、僕のコーチは「これは君が経験すべきことだ」と言いました。
だけど、もうこれは過去のことです。僕はこのイベントの一員であることを本当に誇りに思っています。それは、とても素晴らしいことです。
