Lysacek: Olympic gold medalist trying to figure out his future
Evan Lysacek says he is weighing whether to leave competitive skating and believes he will get a clearer idea on retirement after he skates in an exhibition today.
エヴァン・ライサチェックは競技のスケートから去るかどうかを熟考しているところで、今日のエキシビジョンで滑った後に引退への明確な見解を得られるだろうと信じている、と話している。
"Part of my project here is to figure out what the future will hold," he said.

The skating spectacular, which will follow the final event of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. today in the Greensboro Coliseum.

Lysacek has been traveling with the Smucker's Stars on Ice tour. He has taken time away to work on "Rise," a film U.S. Figure Skating made to document its 1961 world team.
これまでライサチェックはスムッカーズ・スターズ・オン・アイスの旅の最中だったが、それを離れてアメリカフィギュアスケート連盟が製作した1961年のワールドチームのドキュメントである映画『Rise』の仕事に時間を割いていた。
"I had two very long days of filming in a dark skating rink in with one light, one spotlight, one pool of light," he said, "and they asked me to do some jumps and some tricks and stuff in that pool of light."
「ライトが1つ、スポットライトも1つ、照明機器も1つしかない、暗いスケートリンクの中で二日間に及ぶとても長い撮影がありました。あんな照明機器の中でジャンプや技、動作を何回も要求されたんですよ！」
The filming was a moment for him to take a break during a hectic schedule in 2010 after the figure skater won gold in the Vancouver Olympics.
その撮影は2010年に彼がバンクーバーオリンピックで優勝した後の驚異的なスケジュールの中で、彼が一休みできるひとときだったという。
"And as I was on the ice that day I had sort of an eerie feeling come over me. I just felt this connection to the ice and to all the people who were working on this film," Lysacek said.
「あの日はずっと氷上にいたので、少し不思議な感覚になりました。氷や、この映画に取り組んでいる人たち全員とのつながりを、ただ感じ取ったのです」とライサチェック。
He said he felt the connection to the team, his coach and others in skating.

In doing that filming, he thought about the legacy that team left along with a special fund to help up-and-coming skaters.

"It has been our greatest legacy," he said. "It has provided so much support. I was 10 years old was when I received financial support. It wasn't huge but it was a way for U.S. Figure Skating to say they're behind me."
「僕達の素晴らしい財産ですね」と彼は語る。「今までとても大きな支援をしてきてくれました。僕が経済的支援を受けたのは１０歳のときです。大きな額ではなかったけれど、（そうした支援は）アメリカスケート連盟が僕を応援してくれていると伝える手段だったのですから」
He said he has no plans to coach, adding that with all the help, skating is unique.
彼は（生徒を）指導をするという計画はないが、あらゆる協力をする、スケートはユニークな競技だから、と付け加えた。
"Skating is a very odd sport. They lock that door behind you and you're out on the ice and there in the fish tank all alone," he said. "And you have people help you along the way and help you emotionally, but you have to be comfortable in your own skin."
「スケートはとても風変わりなスポーツです。その扉は閉ざされているし、氷上という水槽の上で、たった一人で氷上に出なければならないんですよ。その途中で自分を支援してくれる人達、また精神的に助けてくれる人たちを得ることができますが、ありのままの自分に満足しなければならないんです」
