Hi everyone,

やあ、みんな！

I am writing my last blog today and I have a bit of sadness, I have to admit. If you’d told me six months ago that competing on Dancing With the Stars would be an unforgettable, life-changing experience I might not have believed you. But here we are just hours away from the last performance show of the season and we are all a mixed bag of emotions. That’s because for the first time since weeks one and two, we are all in Los Angeles. This week Anna and I rehearsed back at the Hollywood rehearsal studio and got see all of the gang again. It was a great feeling just having people pop in and out of each other’s studios. The past couple of days has felt like a family reunion and the big celebration will be when we’re all back at the ballroom Tuesday night for the finale.

僕は今日、最後のブログを書いている。ちょっとだけ悲しく思ってるのは否めない。仮に６か月前に、この忘れ得ぬ人生を変えるような経験、ダンシング・ウィズ・ザ・スターズへの出場のことを言われても僕はきっと信じなかっただろう。だけど僕たちは今、シーズン最後のパフォーマンスショーまであと数時間のところにいて、みんな複雑な感情を持っているんだ。その理由は、僕たちみんながロサンゼルスにいるのがweek1とweek2以来、初めてのことだから。今週、アンナと僕はハリウッド・リハーサル・スタジオに戻って練習して、仲間全員と再び会うことができた。みんながお互いのスタジオを、ただ行ったり来たりするのはいい気分だったよ。ここ２，３日は家族の親睦会みたいだったし、フィナーレに向けて火曜日の夜に僕たち全員がダンスホールに戻った時には、大きなお祝いになるだろうね。

The Stars on Ice tour dates just happened to be based in Southern California, which was great for Anna’s and my rehearsal schedule. It was also nice to get to sleep in my own bed instead of on a plane or a bus. For the past eight weeks, Wednesdays have been travel days. But this time, I actually had a day off … sort of. I didn’t sleep in and meet friends for lunch. Being ‘off’ just meant not having to board an airplane. Anna and I used our time wisely by training for 12 hours! Hey, what can I say? We had four dances to prepare for the finale shows and the only way to learn them is to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

スターズ・オン・アイス・ツアーの日程がたまたま南カリフォルニアを拠点に行われたのは、アンナと僕の練習スケジュールにとってとても喜ばしいことだった。飛行機やバスの中の代わりに自分のベッドで眠れるというのも嬉しかったよ。ここ８週間もの間、水曜日はずっと移動日だった。でも今回は実をいうとオフだったんだ・・・ちょっとだけどね。でもゆっくり寝ることも、お昼に友達と会うこともできなかった。『オフ』の状態でいるというのは単純に飛行機に乗らなくていいという意味だからね。アンナと僕は賢明にも１２時間をトレーニングに費やしたよ！さあ、なんて言ったらいいかな？僕たちはフィナーレ・ショーに向けて用意しなければならない４つのダンスがあるんだ。そしてそれらを学ぶための唯一の方法は、とにかく練習しまくることさ！

The best part of the day was getting a visit from Len Goodman. Each of the three judges was assigned to coach the finalists for a day and give us some pointers. Working with Len was one of the best experiences I had during my entire run on the show. He reminds me of my skating coach, Frank Carroll. He is so knowledgeable about dancing and form and technique and performance and I found myself hanging on his every word.

この日一番最高の出来事は、レン・グッドマンの訪問があったことだった。三人のジャッジ一人一人が、一日ファイナリスト達を指導し、僕たちにいくつか助言をするために配属されているんだ。レンと一緒に練習できたのは、この番組での僕がやってきた経験全体の中で最高のものの一つだったよ！彼は僕のスケートのコーチ、フランク・キャロルを思い出させる。彼はダンス、フォーム、テクニック、演技についてとても知識があるし、気づいたら彼の言葉全てに耳を傾けていたよ！

On Thursday night my Dancing family came out to see me and my fellow skaters perform at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Not only did most of my cast mates attend the show, but a lot of the production, hair and makeup and wardrobe folks were there as well. I was a little nervous, I have to admit, because I really wanted to give them a great show. Mark Ballas choreographed my big solo routine to Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror,” so I felt a little heightened sense of pressure to deliver knowing that he and the others were in the audience.

木曜日の夜は、僕のダンス・ファミリーが僕と仲間のスケーター達がロサンゼルスのステープルズセンターで滑るのを見に来てくれた。僕のキャスト仲間の殆どがショーに出席しただけでなく、製作陣やヘアーメイク、衣装の人たちも同様にその場にいたんだよ！僕は少し緊張してしまったと言わざるを得ない、だって心からみんなに素晴らしいショーを提供したかったからね。マーク・バラスが僕の大事なソロナンバー、マイケル・ジャクソンの『Man in the Mirror』を振りつけてくれたから、彼やほかのみんなが観衆の中にいると知りながらそれを演じることに、少しだけプレッシャーの高まりを感じていた。

Like everyone on the cast this season, Anna and I have been working hard each week to perform the different Latin and ballroom dances to the best of our abilities. I’m excited we made it into the finals and we get to perform on Monday and Tuesday, but I’m sad because it’s gone way too fast. I think my motives going in were really honest. I didn’t come on this show and say. “I have to win that mirror ball.” I signed on because I wanted to make friends and experience something fun and new. I have to tell you, it’s been all of that and more. I’ve found it to be incredibly unique and fulfilling.

今シーズンのキャストみんなと同様に、アンナと僕は毎週さまざまなラテンダンスや社交ダンスを全力を尽くして披露するためにずっと努力してきた。決勝に進出できることに興奮しているし、僕たちは月曜と火曜にダンスを披露することになっているけど、時間があまりに早く過ぎ去ってしまったのが悲しい。僕がこの番組に参加する動機はとても真っ当なものだったと思う。僕はこの番組に『僕はミラーボール・トロフィーを獲得しなければいけません』と言って登場したのではないんだ。僕が出演契約をした理由は、友人を作ったり楽しくて新しい何かを経験したかったというものだったからね。そして、（この経験が）それ以上だったって言わなきゃいけないよ。びっくりするくらいユニークで、充実したものだってことがわかったんだ！
